Race Report: Banana Belt #1

Banana Belt #1 was March 4th, and I was excited for my second race of the weekend having just won the Echo Red to Red mountain bike race!

Here is a quick summary of how each of us did from Team VCC.

Chris Heron is the smartest of all of us knowing that riding alone will give you the best photo ops.  So he conjured up an immediate flat just like Cherry Pie and spent the race mugging for the camera :-)

Alex Turpin finds riding in packs boring and too easy.  He determined to make it a training day and spent much of the day getting a real workout. :-)

Erica Ramsing found the Cat4 women’s field a smidge slow and decided to put on a clinic showing everyone what pulling looks like.  Erica finished a strong 5th! :-)

Molly showed up to compete, and despite tired legs from spending two hours the previous day dodging obstacles, TT’ing on a mountain bike and making people eat her dust, she finished 3rd!  Well done Molly!!!!   She is one step closer to her Cat3 Upgrade!!!!  I predict a literal clinic will be put on by Molly in 7 days from now.

I liked Stew’s Cherry Pie strategy on tired legs from my Saturday mountain bike race and decided to be either off the front or off the back at the end of the race.  Of course the latter was the case, and I ended with a 27th place finish ;-)

Go Team VCC!
